Some of our readers have asked if I have the configuration settings for using a Smile 4G/LTE SIM in a smartphone or tablet for data (Smile does not offer voice calls or SMS; just broadband internet). So, I asked on your behalf, and here is the information:

1. Note: Your smartphone or tablet must support LTE 800 band. Check the pack or documentation. We have tried to give you pointers by providing a list of LTE phones that are available in Nigeria already. Smile also has a list of supported tablets.

2. Normally, your device should automatically configure itself once you pop in your Smile SIM (I am told that BB10 devices do this). If it doesn’t, below are the settings for the configuration if it is not automatically pulled from the network.

  • Proxy : Nil (No proxy needed)
  • APN Name: internet
  • Password: Nil (No password needed)
  • IP Version: IPv4

NOTE: You may need to attempt to scan manually for the LTE network which is SMILE NG or 62127.

Dazall! Enjoy.
