The Gionee M2 is a DualSIM 1.3 GHz quad-core, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean smartphone. It has 1 GB RAM. The display is 5 inches in size and of 480×854 pixel reolution. There is an 8 megapixel rear camera, while the front facing camera is 2 megapixel. Internal storage is 4 GB, and there is room for a microSD card.

The Amigo custom user interface is really a very lightly skinned version of Android’s default UI. You will notice the differene in the drop-down and Settings menus. Besides that, everything else looks pretty much like raw Android. The M2 supports themes though, so you can change the look and feel of wallpapers and icons.

It packs a humongous removable 4200mAh battery, which i saying something. By way of comparison, the 6-inch Lumia 1520 has a 3400mAh battery. Battery life of th M2 should be interesting.

As you can see in the above photo, the M2 supports both a micro-SIM and a mini-SIM slot. While its length and width are not out of place, it is a bit thick, to accommodate the large battery. At 144 x 72 x 10.5 mm, that thickness makes it a bit of a chunky device by modern standards:

But then, if you are after serious battery power, you should be willing to sacrifice something. Here is a comparison shot with the Huawei Honor 3C which has a thickness of 9.2 mm against the M2’s 10.5 mm:

While I have been unable to find information about its precise weight, the heft is very obvious once you pick it up.
