I am not a fan of flip cases or any type of cases for phones. I prefer my phones naked in all their glory. Why hide those beautiful designs behind a layer of leather or plastic or whatever? Yes; I know that cases and pouches have benefits. For example, one chief benefit is protection. But I have never had a problem with keeping my devices in top shape even after months of use, so…
My personal preference or not, I see that flip cases – especially those that open up horizontally like books – have caught on quite well. Everywhere I turn, I see people carrying their phones in flip cases and opening them to use them like they were holding books.
The above picture shows my friend, Buchi, using one just that way. Holding and using a smartphone that way must feel natural to someone who is used to reading books. Perhaps, protection aside, that is one reason why horizontal flip cases have caught on. Or perhaps I am just rambling.
